Movember: Men's Mental Health Campaign

Men have a higher likelihood of dying by suicide, engaging in substance abuse, not utilizing mental health services, experiencing more intensive mental health issues, and are less likely to ask for support when experiencing difficult health issues. This monthly series of events are designed to both raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health concerns.

The Van Andel Institute and Spectrum Health have graciously offered to host a small group of UM students to visit their labs and buildings. At VAI, students will have the chance to tour their demonstration lab, hear some key speakers, and learn about undergraduate research opportunities in the biomedical field, and enjoy lunch. Spectrum Health will be showcasing careers within a hospital environment on both the provider and administrator side.

This will be an all day event, on Friday, November 22. Transportation will be provided and will be leaving around 7:30 a.m.

Google Immersion Excursion

Google-Ann Arbor, home to the Adwords Division (online advertising support, account management, and sales) is opening it's doors to Michigan students to give them a behind-the-scenes look at their office.

Participants will enjoy breakfast, an office tour, fun hands-on activities, and a chance to meet Google staff members (many Michigan alums among them!)

In this Strategies for Success workshop we will learn how to learn from your exams.  What can you learn from the questions you got wrong?  What can you discover about your test-taking skills from previous exams?  What can you learn to help you be better prepared for the next exam?

Many people think of LinkedIn as a professional Facebook, but there are so many other unique reasons why a college student would want to use LinkedIn.

This workshop will introduce participants to tips and tricks for using LinkedIn, how to do some of the things people don't often think of when they first hear of LinkedIn, and how to reach out to Michigan alum.

Even if you've never heard of Linkedin, still come!
