Churchill Scholarship

Deadline for applying to the U-M selection committee is October 25th, 2013

The Churchill Scholarship is one of the most competitive and prestigious of the "UK Scholarships" (along with the Rhodes and Marshall). The program began in 1959 at the recommendation of Sir Winston Churchill, who wished there always to be graduate students from the U.S. attending the college that bears his name.

Students typically apply for this award in their senior year. Churchill Scholars receive full funding plus a living stipend for pursuing a one-year program of study in a STEM field at Cambridge University. U-M has had 12 Churchill Scholars, including five winners since 2005. Interested Winning nominees typically have a 3.9 or 4.0 GPA with extensive research experience. Information about the scholarship and Cambridge University are provided on the Winston Churchill Foundation's website.

The deadline for applying to the U-M selection committee is October 25th, 2013. However, students must submit applications to the Cambridge program of their choice by October 15th, 2013.  Interested students are strongly recommended to contact Henry Dyson at to discuss potential programs at Cambridge by October 1st, 2013.
